Chroneika: Where It Is and What Is Actually There
Chroneika is a small coastal settlement on the Ionian, four kilometres north of Preveza in Epirus. It is where L’Incanto is, and it is quiet in a way that suits some trips and not others. This page is about which.
Where exactly it is
Chroneika — Χρονέικα, sometimes written Chroneïka and grouped with neighbouring Drosia — sits on the coast road north of Preveza, in the Preveza municipality of Epirus. Postal code 48100. It is a settlement of houses and a handful of local businesses rather than a resort: there is no promenade, no strip of hotels and no nightlife.
The practical consequence is that everything except the sea requires a short drive. That is the trade you are making, and for a lot of people it is the right one — you get a quiet coastline and free parking outside the door instead of a town-centre address.

What is walkable and what needs the car
The shoreline at the bottom of the settlement is walkable. It is the village’s own stretch of coast — unorganised, with no sunbeds, no bar and no shade — which is precisely why it stays quiet through August and remains usable in September when the seasonal bars up the coast have shut.
Everything else is a drive. Supermarkets, pharmacies, the fish market and the tavernas are in Preveza, four kilometres and eight to twelve minutes away. The nearest organised beach with sunbeds and a bar is Kalamitsi, three kilometres north. Parking at the apartments is free and on site, so neither errand involves hunting for a space at this end.
Chroneika or Preveza town?
Stay in Preveza town if you want to walk to dinner, if you are not renting a car, or if you want the old quarter and the waterfront on your doorstep. Seitan Pazar and the tavernas around it are the reason most people choose the centre, and they are genuinely good.
Stay in Chroneika if you have a car and would rather be on a quiet stretch of coast with the beaches and Nikopolis to the north of you and the airport a quarter of an hour to the south. It is the better base for a trip built around days out rather than evenings in town — and it is the only one of the two where parking is never a question.
When the season runs
L’Incanto takes bookings from June to September. Early June and September are the quietest weeks and the water is still warm in September; the first half of August is the busiest fortnight on this whole coast, and the beach car parks fill by late morning.
